Josh Hall has signaled that it was not his choice to end his marriage to Christina Hall.
Two weeks after both filed for divorce, he broke his silence about his breakup from the HGTV star.
"I prefer privacy, especially during something as life changing as a divorce I did not ask for," Josh, 43, wrote on Instagram Aug. 2. "I will not publicly badmouth anyone as people have families, friends and others who respect and love them. Unfortunately the internet is forever."
He continued, "We are real humans, this is our life and I am not here to entertain people I don’t know with my private matters. Those details will be handled fairly behind closed doors with our respective counsels in due time. Those who know each of us, know who we are."
Josh included in his post a selfie of himself and his dog Stella, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2022.
In an Instagram post shared that September, he had noted that she "has been my rock through a lot of life, moves and changes." He added, "Stella had never been around kids much before, but she immediately fit in and is obsessed with everyone in this house."
Josh and Christina—mother to Taylor El Moussa, 13, and Brayden El Moussa, 8, who she shares with ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, and to son Hudson Anstead, 4, whose father is her ex Ant Anstead—both filed for divorce July 16 after more than two years of marriage.
Josh shared his statement soon after posting a photo of a sculpture spelling out the word hope, to which Christina responded by reposting the image on her Instagram Story along with the message, "I 'HOPE' she pays me millions more than what she’s already offered me." She later deleted her post. He has not commented on her remark.
A source previously signaled that the breakup came as a surprise to Josh.
"All marriages have their ups and downs,” the insider told E! News July 26, "but Josh never expected his relationship with Christina to end like this."
The medically retired cop and real estate investor had "devoted the past few years to Christina and her kids," the source said, adding that "24/7, his social, professional, and romantic lives revolved around Christina."
Before their split, the two filmed the HGTV series The Flip Off, which they were set to star opposite Tarek and his wife Heather El Moussa.
“Now that they’ve split, we hear he’s spending some time in Nashville, where he’s been hitting the gym and attending church regularly," the insiders said about Josh. "He’s focusing on finding the light at the end of the tunnel as he has to completely start over."
Look back at Christina and Josh's past romance in pictures...
Sparks flew while Christina and Josh started spending time together. The couple recreated their March 2021 date a year later.
While on vacation for Christina's birthday, the two posed for a photo on the beach and made their relationship Instagram official.
Months in, Christina had a message for any haters, noting she'll "turn off comments with Josh and will continue to do so if people are rude." As she later put it, "Do what you love with the ones you love. For me, that's Josh, my kids and a few close friends and co-workers."
Engaged! One day after celebrating Josh's birthday, Christina confirmed the duo's romance was anything but a flop.
The pair celebrated the spooktacular season with a visit to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights.
Just a few months later, they marked their first Christmas together.
"Building life together and enjoying some alone time," she captioned this sweet pic. "Love you Josh."
The following month, Christina enjoyed the "Best Valentine's weekend with my Valentine."
"Prayed for a man who was all man but still treated me like his queen," Christina wrote on Instagram just a few days before news of her and Josh's marriage broke. "Never give up."
In April 2022, fans learned that Christina and Josh privately tied the knot. They then celebrated their union with a wedding in Hawaii that September.
"Shared vows in front of family and our close friends," Christina wrote on Instagram Sept. 4. "Everything in life has led me to where I am right now, which is exactly where I want to be. My dream man on the dreamiest island. Maui holds a special place in my heart. What an amazing night filled with love."
It would later be revealed that the two actually wed in October 2021.
The real estate agent celebrated the HGTV star's birthday with a sweet tribute.
"Happy 40th Birthday to my absolute stunner of a wife!" he wrote on Instagram. "This woman has accomplished so much, inspired so many and continues to impress me daily. I can’t say enough about what an absolute force she is and what she is capable of. Christina is about to make her 40’s the best decade of her life and looking better than ever while doing it!I’m a lucky man and thank my lucky stars that she chose me to take this ride with her that is now our life. Ride or die baby, love you more than anything."
Christina and Josh stepped out for a beach day with her French bulldog Cash and his dog Stella.
"Still going strong…" Josh wrote on Instagram alongside photos over the pair from over the past three years. "03/2024 ← 03/2023 ← 03/202← 03/2021."
In July 2024, Josh filed for divorce from Christina, citing "irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and her listing the same in her own court documents.
