John Legend Shares What Has Made Him “Emotional” Since Welcoming Baby Esti With Chrissy Teigen

We love all of what John Legend has to say about becoming a father of three.
The "All of Me" singer recently shared how he and wife Chrissy Teigen's two oldest children—Luna Simone, 6, and Miles Theodore, 4—have showered newborn Esti Maxine with love since the couple welcomed her on Jan. 13.
"Our kids are very excited to be big siblings," John told Fatherly in an article published Feb. 22. "They love holding Esti. They love kissing her. They just love embracing this new little life in the house."
Their adoration for their little sister comes as a pleasant surprise to John and Chrissy, who "didn't know how that was going to go."
"We didn't know if they would be jealous or be sad," the 44-year-old shared. "Miles might be sad that he wasn't the baby anymore. But he's totally embraced being Esti's big brother, and it's honestly made me very emotional and joyful seeing them together."
In fact, as Luna and Miles have gotten older, the family bond has only become stronger.
"When Miles was born, we were given all this advice about how to bring him home from the hospital to Luna," John explained. "She was 2 years old when he was born. But we didn't do any of that for Esti, I think because the kids are older now and they just kind of get it, and they're more secure in who they are. They weren't that worried about losing us to Esti. They know we have plenty of love to go around."
Luna and Miles have also showed signs of taking after their parents' artistic pursuits, particularly when it comes to creativity.
"Luna's very creative visually," John noted. "She loves painting and creating visual art. She likes to build things. Miles loves to build things as well. Luna really loves music and sings along with the music in the car and likes to dance."
However, it's not yet clear to the 12-time Grammy winner if Miles has inherited his interest in performing: "He loves listening to music, but he doesn't really sing along a lot."
Will Esti also follow after her parents' footsteps? Only time will tell, but for now, the baby girl already has a strong family connection—through her name.
As John revealed to E! News on Feb. 1, "It turns out, my great-grandmother was named Esther."
"We wanted to already name her middle name Maxine after my grandmother, whose middle name was Maxine," he said. "So, it's a lot of my family in the name."
